Christmas Show

Christmas Show

17 December, 2013

Never too early, never too late, we all agree Christmas is great!

Berkeley put on its annual Kindergarten and Elementary/Middle School Christmas Shows last week. With such wonderful performances, it is very easy to see we are going from strength to strength.  Our multipurpose room was beautifully decorated through the kindness of two of Berkeley parents who donated the sets and lighting. The background was a rich living room scene complete with Christmas trees and a brick fireplace. The ambience immediately impressed everyone and gave off a feeling of having real Christmas spirit. The professional level lighting was also superb and helped transform the room into a stage befitting any professional theater.

The Orchestra

All grade levels in the school were involved in various performances from kindergarten up to grade 9. The Kindergarten opened the day off with delightful songs and dances from each class. Their spirit and smiles put everyone in the mood for a great show. A Christmas show wouldn’t be the same without good old St. Nick and Santa made an appearance to reward all the kindergarten students with some goodies for their stockings.

The Elementary and Middle School show followed after some quick adjustments to the stage and seating arrangements. The growth of the school has become evident, as parents filled the room to capacity to see all our or great student performers. Led by two grade seven emcees, the show opened with a piano duet from two talented grade nine students. Other acts of the show included dances, songs, mini skits, and orchestral music. True thespians abound at Berkeley and the acting in some of the plays, especially the Grinch, got plenty of laughs. The singing groups were also splendid with resounding renditions of, Winter wonderland, The First Noel, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Jingle Bells.

The Christmas show

Both of our orchestras played a number of Christmas tunes throughout the show and in between other class performances. It is easy to hear that the music department is doing a wonderful job bringing out the musical talents of both our accomplished and aspiring musicians.

We had our show streamed live around the world through our website. This gave the greater Berkeley family community the opportunity to watch their loved ones perform so far away across the miles. People across Europe, Asia, and the Americas tuned in to watch the shows.

The Christmas Show

A big congratulations must be give to Ms. Tessa for all of her work in organizing two fantastic concerts for students age 2 to 15 years old. It was quite an accomplishment and we look forward to seeing what she does for the spring concerts!

Aside from these photos and others on Facebook we are currently putting together a video of the day for your continued further viewing pleasure over the Christmas season. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! We are Berkeley!
