Berkeley International School accepts application year round. Enrollments are considered only when the application form and payment of the application fee are received. Upon the approval by the Headmaster, a successful student applicant will either be allocated a place for the grade applied or placed on the Waiting List where enrollment will be considered as vacancies become available. Students applying for the places in Grade 1 onwards may be required to take an assessment exam for numeracy and literacy test.
Admissions Policy (Pre-K to K.3)
Level Placement:
• Pre-K (age 2-3 years) Your child must be 2 years old by September 30th of the year enrolled
• K.1 (age 3-4 years) Your child must be 3 years old by September 30th of the year enrolled
• K.2 (age 4-5 years) Your child must be 4 years old by September 30th of the year enrolled
• K.3 (age 5-6 years) Your child must be 5 years old by September 30th of the year enrolled
Children that finish the Kindergarten section will automatically qualify for placement in the Elementary School.
Admissions Policy (Grade 1 – onwards)
To enter first grade, applicants/students must be six years old by September 30th of the same year; must have attended English speaking Kindergarten, or an ESL summer program. Transfer students must provide transcripts or grade reports from their previous schools. Our standards are in accordance with the standards set by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
